France shrugged off the absence of captain Kylian Mbappe to secure an emphatic 4-1 win against Israel in Nations League A tonight.
Mbappe was controversially left out of the squad to recover from injury despite starting for Real Madrid at the weekend. Les Bleus did not miss him with goals from Madrid team-mate Eduardo Camavinga and Christopher Nkunku either side of an Omri Gandelman header giving Didier Deschamps’ side a 2-1 half-time lead in Budapest.
Matteo Guendouzi and Bradley Barcola also netted after the break to move France up to second behind Italy, who squandered a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with Belgium.
Efforts from Andrea Cambiaso and Mateo Retegui inside the first 24 minutes saw Italy seize control but the 40th-minute sending off of Lorenzo Pellegrini handed Belgium a route back into the game which they duly took via goals from Maxim De Cuyper and Leandro Trossard.
Erling Haaland broke Norway’s all-time goalscoring record with a brace in their 3-0 win over Slovenia.

The Manchester City man has now scored 34 goals in 36 internationals to move past Jurgen Juve’s long-standing record.
Alexander Sorloth was also on target for Stale Solbakken’s men.
Also in Nations League B, Group 3, Austria beat Kazakhstan 4-0 with Marcel Sabitzer among the goals.
Heimir Hallgrímsson secured a first win in charge of the Republic of Ireland as they came from behind to win 2-1 in Finland.
Joel Pohjanpalo put the hosts ahead but Liam Scales equalised 12 minutes into the second half and Robbie Brady’s 88th-minute goal snatched it for Ireland.
