Barcelona treating golden duo’s renewal as utmost priority amid approaches from top-level teams

As has already been reported, FC Barcelona are working hard on securing contract renewals for a host of their players in the coming months.

There are quite a few players in the squad who will enter the final year of their respective contracts in 2025 and that is a scenario that the Catalans intend to avoid.

As such, Barcelona sporting director Deco and manager Hansi Flick have been prioritising the matter of renewals before things become complicated.

Pedri, Gavi the top priority

Now, SPORT reports that, of the plethora of renewals that Barcelona are hoping to secure, the priority at the moment is to tie down the golden midfield duo of Pedri and Gavi.

Both the midfielders see their current contract expire in 2026 and, as per the report, have approaches from top clubs in Europe.

However, both Gavi and Pedri are very happy and comfortable at Barcelona and remain keen on continuing at the club.

The Blaugrana, for their part, see the midfielders as an integral part of the team for the present and future and want to retain them at all costs.

In fact, the report states that progress has been made in negotiations with Pedri over a new deal, although Gavi has yet to open talks over a renewal as he is focused on coming back from his injury.

In any case, both players are aware that they must adapt to the club’s economic conditions and are willing to stay put despite approaches from top-level clubs.

The renewals could be closed by the end of the year or in January, with the expectation being that both Pedri and Gavi will sign very long-term deals with huge release clauses.
