In a recent update provided by The Athletic, it has been learned that if Barcelona manage to secure the renewal of Ronald Araujo, it would have a major impact on the contract situations of several other players.
It is no secret that the 25-year-old defender is undeniably a key player for the team. However, during the recent summer transfer window, he was viewed as one of the most marketable assets available for transfer considering the demand he generated.
Interestingly, his exit from the club was abruptly halted due to a hamstring injury he sustained while playing in the Copa America.
Araujo happy at Barcelona
Araujo has consistently expressed his desire to remain at Barcelona. He enjoys a settled life in the city, where his family is comfortable, and he is part of a talented squad. However, despite his intentions, there is no assurance that he will agree to a new contract.
When Araujo negotiated his last extension in 2022, he was promised a salary increase that would bring him closer to the higher earners within the squad.
