Following the season-ending injury to Marc-Andre ter Stegen, FC Barcelona ventured into the market to rope in an emergency signing in the form of Wojciech Szczesny.
The 34-year-old former Poland international came out of retirement to sign a short-term contract with the Blaugrana until the end of the season.
Szczesny has already been registered both in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League and has been training hard to make himself available for selection.
Szczesny quiet on availability vs Sevilla
Despite being registered in time, Szczesny was not called up to the matchday squad for the game against Deportivo Alaves before the international break.
Now, though, with Barcelona set to take on Sevilla later this weekend, there has been speculation that Hansi Flick could hand the former Juventus and Arsenal shot-stopper his debut.
Amidst this, Szczesny was asked about his availability for Sunday night’s encounter against the Andalusian outfit, but opted not to answer the question, reports Mundo Deportivo.

This occurred when the 34-year-old was spotted at Barcelona’s El Prat airport earlier today by the press, who were awaiting the return of Robert Lewandowski following his knock with the Poland national team last night.
The Barcelona goalkeeper arrived in his car and when the media noticed him, he rolled down the window and in a light-hearted moment, shouted like a fan: ‘Lewandowski, Lewandowski.’
The reason for Szczesny’s appearance was not to greet Lewandowski, but his own family – both the goalkeeper’s wife and son were travelling on the same private plane as the striker.
The Polish goalkeeper’s family have arrived in Barcelona to settle in Castelldefels, where several Barça players already live, including Lewandowski himself.
