October 18 – UEFA president Aleksandar Ceferin has held an emergency meeting with the president of the Football Federation of North Macedonia, Muamed Sejdini, following the attack on Sejdini by three masked men in the centre of Skopje two weeks ago.
The meeting between Ceferin and Sejdini took place at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, and principally covered the involvement of government in the running of the federation;
FIFA and UEFA have jointly sent a letter to the FFK requesting a meeting be called with North Macedonian government interference.
“The president of the Football Federation of Macedonia, Muamed Sejdini, was today at the European House of Football in Nyon (Switzerland) at the invitation of the first person of UEFA Aleksandar Ceferin. The physical attack on our president and the latest events in our country was the reason for an emergency meeting to be convened by UEFA President Aleksandar Ceferin right after the match with Armenia, and after receiving information from UEFA about political interference in the work of the Federation, which threatens its integrity,” said an FFK statement.
“President Sejdini first-hand and in detail informed the president of UEFA about the situation and UEFA expressed strong support for the protection of FFM and its integrity. Earlier, UEFA and FIFA jointly sent a written letter to the FFM requesting a meeting with government officials as soon as possible. FFM immediately forwarded this letter to the government of the Republic of North Macedonia in anticipation of an appointment for the requested meeting.
“UEFA and FIFA are steadfast in their intention to maintain the integrity of football and the federation.”
