Chelsea captain Reece James is back in full training once again. And as it always does, it brings pure excitement amongst the Chelsea fan base.
I couldn’t help feeling excited too when I saw the images going around yesterday. We all know the quality and difference a fit Reece James can make. He’s also our club captain, whether some of us have reservations over that or not.
So to see him back in training is always going to be a massive boost. But like many of you, I couldn’t help but also feeling a cloud of caution forming around my excitement to stunt it yet again.
I found myself thinking, how long is he going to be back for this time? How much of James will we see until he’s out for yet another lengthy spell on the sidelines? How much joy do we get to witness this time around? We have grown used to it, and that is the sad reality.
Chelsea have done incredibly well with injuries this season and managing to tone them down completely, but surely James is just a lost cause? Whatever Chelsea have done to improve injuries, surely improving James’ injury prone history is just impossible? Or is it?
Let’s just hope that James now has more of a 2022 rather than 2023 or 2024, and we might just be OK.
I think James is super important for Chelsea in more ways than one. On his day when he is fit, there isn’t many better overall footballers in the world.
I’m not about to start joining the ‘sell him’ crowd, but I can certainly understand the frustrations that leads up to those shouts.
All we can do now is hope for some luck and some sustained games for the club captain.
I’ll stay excited yet cautious on this latest return to action. As I’ve reported, Chelsea are also being very cautious on his return and easing him back when he’s ready, going day by day.
