AFC draws qualifying groups for covid-delayed Women’s Futsal Asian Cup 2025

October 18 – The AFC has drawn the groups for the 2025 Women’s Futsal Asian Cup 2025 with 19 teams to play in four centralised locations January 11-19, 2025.

Previously called the Asian Woman’s Futsal Championship, the rebranded competiton has been held twice before – in 2015 in Malaysia and in 2018 in Thailand. The 2020 edition, that would have been held in Kuwait was cancelled due to the global pandemic.

Iran have won both the editions to date, beating Japan in both finals. These two countries have pre-qualified for the 2025 finals.

Thailand who came third in each of the previous editions, and hosted the 2018 finals, will host again with Lebanon, Bahrain, Palestine and Iraq joining them in Group A.

Group B will be hosted by Indonesia with Hong Kong, China, Pakistan, India and Kyrgyz Republic competing.

Hosts Uzbekistan will face Turkmenistan, Australia, Philippines and Kuwait in Group C, while the four-team Group D will be hosted by Myanmar with Vietnam, Chinese Taipei, and Macau.

The top two teams from each group and the best third-placed team will qualify for the 12-team finals May 7-18 in China.

The top three finishers at the China finals will qualify for the inaugural FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup, to be hosted by the Philippines in the second half of 2025.
