Juventus make an approach for 24-year-old Barcelona attacking target – report

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Barcelona are among the clubs interested in the services of Jonathan David.

The LOSC Lille striker has been phenomenal for the French giants, but his time at the club could soon come to an end.

That is because his contract expires at the end of the season, meaning the forward could be available as a free agent next summer.

A recent report from Calciomercato has offered a further update on Jonathan David’s future, confirming that the player has decided to not renew his contract at Lille.

He will see out his contract at Lille and become a free agent at the end of the season. This has put a series of top clubs on red alert.

As per the report, Juventus, in particular, are serious about signing the Canadian international. The Old Lady have already made initial moves in their bid to sign the player, enquiring about his salary and contract demands.

However, Juventus are set to face stiff competition from their Italian rivals Inter Milan, who are also keen on snapping up the Lille striker on a free transfer.

In this context, Barcelona may appear as an outsider. But the Catalans have made indirect contacts with David’s agent, exploring the possibility of a summer switch to Camp Nou.

It was reported earlier that Jonathan David harbours the dream of playing for Barcelona, which could give Blaugrana an upper hand in negotiations.

However, Barcelona still have a tough task ahead, knowing the Italian giants may also explore a January move in order to get the player out of Barça’s clutches. It will, therefore, be interesting to see how this transfer saga unfolds in the coming months.
