Celtic head to Bergamo to face Atalanta tomorrow night with all eyes on Brendan Rodgers’ tactical approach.
The Scottish giants attempted to play their usual expansive game in their last Champions League away fixture but came hopelessly unstuck, losing 7-1 at Borussia Dortmund. Rodgers said afterwards he would stick to his principles but that could cause more problems against Atalanta, who are the top scorers in Serie A having netted 18 goals in eight games.
A more conservative approach could be useful as Celtic, who were held to a 2-2 draw by Aberdeen on Saturday, attempt to get their European campaign back on track following their 5-1 defeat of Slovan Bratislava in their opener.
Atalanta will prove tough opposition, however. The Europa League holders drew 0-0 with Arsenal last month before a 3-0 win against Shakhtar Donetsk.
They are sixth in their domestic league after back-to-back wins against Genoa and Venezia.
