Dyche happy with point in competitive Fulham clash

Reflecting on his impact, Beto said to BBC Match of the Day: “It means a lot for me. These couple of weeks I wasn’t playing, so I needed to put in the hard work, and as everybody says the hard work pays off.

“This time it pays off for me and my team-mates, for the Toffees, and it is really important.

“The hard work pays off. I just need to keep working. If I have the opportunity of course I want to score, and if I don’t I will keep working – this is my mentality.

“We’ve had to grind” 💪

“We showed tonight we don’t give up. We need to keep this mentality.”

Dyche acknowledged Everton’s struggle to perform at their recent level but was pleased with the team’s mentality.

He added: “It feels good in the sense that I don’t feel we were near our recent performance levels.

“The big balance is that the mentality continues to grow. You could smell in the air in the last 10 minutes that a goal was coming – at least I felt that way.

“To be fair they were the better team overall today and they are a really good side. We forged a positive point for ourselves in the end.”

Marco Silva was left disappointed by the result, feeling his side deserved more.

He said: “It’s so tough for us and players in the dressing room.

“We didn’t give them any chances to press high. We frustrated their press. We controlled the game. We created clear chances to score.

“The result is really unfair because we should have scored one or two more goals.”
