La Liga to take action after racist slurs hurled at Barcelona forward during El Clasico

Barcelona continued their remarkable run under Hansi Flick, sealing a comprehensive 4-0 win over arch-rivals Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu.

It was a terrific performance from the Catalans, whose attackers were unleashed in the second half, thanks to goals from Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal and Raphinha.

However, while most Real Madrid fans accepted their inferiority on the day, some select supporters in the stands were not all too happy with the scoreline.

As such, they resorted to racial slurs against Barcelona star Yamal. The incident happened when the young Spaniard celebrated his goal by introducing himself to the Madrid fans.

Spanish football has been relentless in condemning racism inside stadiums, especially after the Valencia-Real Madrid game at the Mestalla in 2023.

The association has had to increase the frequency of their checks during a football match, which has led to numerous sanctions against fans.

Interestingly, Real Madrid have come out strongly against La Liga for not being able to control racism.

But now, with these racist incidents taking place in their own backyard, the club will be involved with La Liga to identify the actors and do a thorough check.

Real Madrid should be able to identify the perpetrators in the coming days. On the basis of what they said and how many fans were involved, La Liga will take a final decision, as far as the sanction is concerned.
