Eddie Howe has picked out Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall for special praise following our 2-1 defeat at Chelsea over the weekend.
It was a second consecutive defeat for the Magpies, who are now winless in five in the Premier League, but Howe is focusing on the positive’s he can take from Sunday’s game.
The full-back duo came up against their former side having come through the ranks in West London before signing for the Magpies, and, as Howe suggested, did themselves proud upon their return and both played key roles in the build up to Isak’s goal.
On Livramento and Hall, Howe said: “They are two outstanding players, and it would have been a big day for them, coming back to their former club.
“I thought they did themselves proud, both in and out of possession. Our full-backs are such a big part of what we do, and how we attack. I thought they used the ball really well.
“They were given tough examinations, they were up against very good opponents. But I was really pleased with both of their performances.”
With Kieran Trippier still injured, Livramento is set to have a big part to play for this season and beyond. Howe certainly believes the 21-year-old is up to the challenge, while Hall appears to have nailed down a place as our first choice left-back.
