Barcelona president Joan Laporta couldn’t resist a playful jab at Real Madrid during the Ballon d’Or gala in Paris last night, where he highlighted Barcelona’s impressive progress under Hansi Flick.
Laporta’s comments were a nod to Barcelona’s dominant 4-0 El Clasico victory over Real Madrid, a memorable result that fans celebrated as a sign of the club’s rejuvenation under Flick’s leadership.
Real Madrid’s decision to skip the Ballon d’Or ceremony after learning that Vinicius Jr. wouldn’t be crowned the winner only added fuel to the rivalry.

Barcelona’s success extended to the women’s side as well, with Barcelona Femeni being recognised as the best team. Laporta accepted the award on behalf of the team, handing it over to the players once they took the stage.

In his speech, Laporta took the opportunity to mention Barcelona’s style of play under Flick, highlighting the team’s attractive football and hinting at the El Clasico triumph.
“Thanks to Hansi Flick and his staff, we play very beautiful football, especially as we saw in El Clasico,” he said.
His words underscored how Flick’s coaching has breathed new life into the team, bringing an exciting, attacking style that fans and players alike have embraced.

For the club, this was yet another affirmation of the club’s resurgence,…
