Hugo Sotil, the previous Barcelona striker who fashioned a formidable partnership with Johan Cruyff within the early Seventies, has died on the age of 75.
The Peruvian, who scored 25 instances in 65 appearances for the La Liga giants between 1973 and 1976, was broadly considered one of many most interesting South American gamers of his era.
Affectionately often known as ‘Cholo’, Sotil was a part of the Peru aspect that reached the World Cup quarter finals in 1970 and 1978, and performed alongside Cruyff on the Catalan membership, netting 17 objectives in all competitions in his first season.

In Could 1984, Sotil performed for Barcelona in a testimonial sport between the 1974 crew and a South America XI, after which he mentioned: “Since I left Barca I’ve been ready for this second. I really like Barcelona, the pleasant individuals and the love of the followers.”
Then, three a long time later in October 2014, Sotil mentioned: “The love of the individuals of Barça is unforgettable. The day I die I hope they bury me in a Barca shirt.”
