Barcelona were dealt with a major blow on the weekend when both star midfielders Pedri and Frenkie de Jong picked up serious knocks.
Pedri’s injury looked particularly serious, with recent reports suggesting that he could be ruled out for the remainder of the campaign.
That means Pedri won’t be available for important matches such as the UCL Round of 16 clash against Napoli, as well as the next El Clasico against Real Madrid on the weekend of April 20- 21.
Big boost for Barcelona
However, a recent report from Mundo Deportivo has offered a positive update on the fitness of Pedri.
It suggests that the Barcelona youngster could be back in action much sooner than expected and may even be available for next month’s Clasico against Real Madrid.
The report further adds that Pedri will return to action sometime in the later part of the campaign and will be able to play throughout May.

Barcelona, for their part, have strictly aimed for Pedri to be available for the next Clasico. They are currently not thinking about the possibility of having the midfielder back for the UCL knockout stage matches, should they reach the quarterfinals and beyond.
No relapse for Pedri
The good news for Pedri comes on the back of fresh tests carried out on the Spanish midfielder, which revealed that the injury is in the ‘good area’ and not the part where the 2021 Golden Boy picked up an injury.
That means Pedri has not aggravated the injury he has struggling with in recent times. It is a fresh injury, which won’t keep him out for long.
Pedri has already started the recovery process and is in good spirits right now. He is hopeful of returning to full fitness in the coming future and featuring against Real Madrid next month.
