Puma ready to offer Barcelona €120 million-a-year deal and €100 million signing bonus

Puma are currently locked in a battle with Nike over gaining the shirt sponsorship rights for FC Barcelona.

The Catalans have a long-standing partnership with Nike that does not expire until 2028. However, Barcelona are not entirely happy with the terms offered by Nike, which has led them to find alternatives.

Puma has emerged as the likely competitor, with the German apparel giants ready to offer a lucrative deal to Barcelona.

Puma’s offer to Barcelona

A recent report from MARCA has offered a detailed update on Puma’s offer to Barcelona, suggesting that the company has even proposed a signing bonus.

Indeed, Puma are ready to offer Barcelona a substantial signing bonus of €100 million, which could go a long way in helping the club solve its economic woes.

Moreover, Puma are willing to offer Barcelona a better deal than Nike. They are ready to pay the club a fee of around €120 million annually, which is significantly more than the €85 million paid by Nike.

The American giants do pay €20 million in the form of bonuses, but that number is very volatile as it depends on various goals.

Puma favourite to replace Nike

Because of Puma’s higher offers, Barcelona’s board is tilting towards the German giants, who look likely to replace Nike as the shirt sponsor.

The club will soon have to come up with a final decision, but for now, the board is waiting for Nike’s final offer.

Should Barcelona end up opting for Puma, the club will have to undergo legal measures to try and terminate the contract with Nike, which as mentioned earlier, does not expire until 2028.

Barcelona, though, can be hopeful that the signing bonus offered by Puma could help them cover the legal costs surrounding the Nike deal.
