Newcastle handed triple boost ahead of FA Cup quarter-final at Man City

It looks like Man City will be without Kevin De Bruyne for Saturday night’s FA Cup quarter-final at the Etihad.

It’s emerged today that the midfield playmaker has not been selected by Belgium for the upcoming international break due to a minor groin problem, meaning he’s highly unlikely to feature this weekend.

De Bruyne helped change the game for Man City in their 3-2 win at St James’ Park earlier this year, coming off the bench to score an equaliser before setting up Oscar Bobb’s late winner with a brilliant pass.

Elsewhere, goalkeeper Ederson has also been ruled out. The Brazilian suffered an injury in their 1-1 draw with Liverpool over the weekend and is expected to be sidelined for the next three to four weeks with a thigh injury.

As for Newcastle, Craig Hope reports that Anthony Gordon is expected back in training ‘over the comings days’ after securing his first senior England call-up, giving him a real chance of making a game he was initially expected to miss.
