Manchester United will be big underdogs ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup quarter-final against bitter rivals Liverpool.
The Red Devils, who are already out of Europe and the Carabao Cup and sit eight points off the Premier League’s top four, only really have the FA Cup left to play for.
And although former Liverpool attacker Stan Collymore not only echoes that belief, he also thinks this could be United’s best chance at turning their otherwise disappointing season around.
“It’s a big game, especially for United, who only really have the FA Cup to compete for,” he said in an exclusive interview.

“It’s also a massive game for Liverpool, who remain in all four competitions. The Reds also seem to be getting stronger the deeper they go, so I’m expecting another really hard-fought game for Erik Ten Hag’s men.”

Going on to predict how Sunday’s mouth-watering contest could end, Collymore added: “I won’t call a winner, but I do fancy this one to go the distance. It may end up won in extra time, but I certainly wouldn’t be surprised if it went to penalties, and from there, flip a coin.”
As Collymore rightly pointed out — the outcome of this weekend’s matchup is going to be hugely significant to both team’s campaigns.
Liverpool are vying for an unprecedented quadruple, and while they may not achieve it, there will certainly be huge emphasis placed on the fact this season is Jurgen Klopp’s last in charge.
It is equally as important for Erik Ten Hag to have something to aim for though. Failure to win a single trophy and miss out on European qualification is likely to see the Dutchman sacked at the end of the season.
