According to The Chronicle, teenage winger Trevan Sanusi has been invited to train with the first team after impressing Eddie Howe.
As we revealed in an NUFC Blog exclusive last summer, Newcastle beat a host of ‘big six’ rivals to his signature, with the 16-year-old joining the club’s academy after rejecting a new deal at Birmingham City.
Little over six months later, Lee Ryder reports that there’s ‘every chance’ he features in the senior squad before the season is out, with his speed and skill catching Howe’s eye.
His rapid progress with the Academy means he’s almost certain to land a professional deal, with the teenager already impressing beyond his years after featuring regularly in our U21 side. The England U17 international looks a huge talent, possessing the sort of pace and trickery that could take him to the top.
With Leo Shahar signed from Wolves, Cathal Heffernan arriving from AC Milan and Norwegian talent Travis Hernes also recruited before Alfie Harrison left Man City for Tyneside in January, it’s good to see some of our young stars stepping up.
