Atletico Madrid will be hoping to benefit from home advantage when they host Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie at the Wanda Metropolitano.

It has been six years since the teams faced each other in competitive action, with the last coming in the 2018/19 group stage when Atletico won 2-0 at home thanks to goals from Antoine Griezmann and Saul Niguez.

There are two definite absentees for Atletico and they are Thomas Lemar and Mario Hermoso. The Frenchman is long-term due to a ruptured Achilles.

Memphis Depay couldn’t finish a recent training session due to a knock so its unlikely he’ll start, if he features at all.

Jan Oblak will start behind a likely back three of Jose Gimenez, Axel Witsel and Stefan Savic.

Along the midfield five, we’ll have Nahuel Molina, Koke, Marcos Llorente, Rodrigo De Paul and Samuel Lino.

Griezmann will partner Alvaro Morata up top.

Dortmund Team News and predicted XI

Nico Schlotterbeck missed the last Champions League game in the last-16 due to suspension but he is now free to return in the backline alongside Mats Hummels, as he plays regularly in the Bundesliga.

Ramy Bensebaini is a definite absentee due to a knee issue, while there are doubts over Donyell Malen after he suffered a setback in his recovery from a hip problem.

Dortmund (4-3-3): Kobel; Ryerson, Hummels, Schlotterbeck, Maatsen; Sabitzer, Can, Brandt; Sancho, Fullkrug, Adeyemi.
