Milan vs Roma Prediction: Team to Win

Across all the European matches this week in the Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference League, there is only one fixture with two teams from the same country involved – Milan versus Roma.

Milan are currently battling in the Serie A title race as they are second behind arch-rivals Inter, while Roma are hoping to return to the Champions League by earning a place in the top four, though they are sat in fifth at the moment.

Milan and Roma have never faced each other in European competition before.

Current Form

Milan couldn’t be in better form heading into this one as they have won their last seven games in a row in all competitions including two versus Slavia Prague in the Europa League.

At the weekend, they defeated Lecce 3-0 thanks to goals from Christian Pulisic, Olivier Giroud and Rafael Leao.

In that run of seven wins in a row, they have scored 17 goals.

Roma Current Form

Roma’s confidence is high following a massive 1-0 victory over Lazio in the Derby della Capitale on Saturday evening.

They have lost just one out of their last 10 games in all competitions and that loss didn’t actually matter anyway as the still progressed over two legs against Brighton in the Europa League.

Games involving Roma haven’t typically been full of goals recently, as in their last four, only three goals have been scored.

Stefano Pioli has issues to address in defence as he will be without Fikayo Tomori due to suspension and Pierre Kalulu due to injury. Malick Thiaw has returned to training but the Roma game may come too early for him, which means a likely start in the centre of defence for Simon Kjaer and Matteo Gabbia.

He does have Ruben Loftus-Cheek back available after he served a domestic suspension for the Lecce game, however.
