Barcelona trio on the risk of missing El Clasico if they pick up bookings vs Cadiz

Coming back from an inspiring 2-3 win against PSG in the Champions League, Barcelona will temporarily shift their focus towards the La Liga as they take Cadiz away from home.

Since their promotion, Cadiz has proven to be a tough team for Barcelona to beat. They have won only three games out of the seven over the last four seasons, losing two of those games.

And while winning tomorrow is still very important for Barcelona to maintain their morale and momentum heading into the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals, they will likely heavily rotate the team.

The focus should also be on El Clasico following the PSG game as three Barcelona players could be suspended for the Real Madrid clash if they pick up a yellow card against Cadiz tomorrow.

One genuine problem

Sitting on four yellow cards each, Andreas Christensen, Ilkay Gundogan, and Oriol Romeu are all on the verge of suspension.

Christensen is expected to start this game, and could play as a centre-back, while Romeu could also get his first start since the 3-5 defeat against Villarreal late in January.

Should the former get booked, Xavi may have to tweak with his team for El Clasico since the Dane is expected to start as a holding midfielder in Madrid.

Gundogan, meanwhile, is expected to be rested after playing 44 games for club and country this season, and should things go well for Barcelona during the game, he may not come off the bench at all.

What will the rest of the XI look like?

Neither Ronald Araujo, nor Pau Cubarsi are expected to be a part of the setup vs Cadiz. Christensen could be one of the centre-backs, while Xavi could also rely on youngster Mikayil Faye, who has been doing great for Barcelona Atletic.

Inigo Martinez would have started, definitely, but is suspended himself.

Hector Fort and Marcos Alonso could also make the team, while we may see Sergi Roberto feature again in midfield…
