Sky Sports pundits Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville didn’t hold back in his criticism of Nottingham Forest following their social media outburst after a controversial Premier League defeat at Everton.
Carragher accused the club of lacking “class” in their response to the match’s contentious refereeing decisions.
In a heated encounter at Goodison Park, relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest felt aggrieved not to be awarded three penalties, all incidents involving former England defender Ashley Young. Despite their protests during the match and later on social media, Forest fell to a 2-0 defeat.

The club took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, to express their frustration, describing the decisions as “extremely poor” and even implying bias by suggesting the VAR official, Stuart Attwell, was a fan of Luton, a team also engaged in a relegation battle.
Reacting to Forest’s statement, Carragher didn’t mince words, expressing his disappointment with the club’s behavior. He criticised the club for resorting to fan-like behavior in their public statements and emphasised the importance of maintaining professionalism.
Carragher’s sentiments were echoed by fellow pundit Gary Neville, who condemned Forest’s statement as “horrendous” and damaging to the club’s proud history. Neville highlighted the absurdity of suggesting bias on the part of officials and emphasized the need for clubs to avoid such inflammatory remarks.
Nottingham Forest’s response to the defeat has attracted widespread criticism. In previous officiating incidents the club was prompted to enlist the services of former referee Mark Clattenburg as a consultant analyst. Clattenburg’s role is to provide insight and analysis to support the club’s claims of contentious refereeing decisions.
