Howe issues injury update on 7 players – Good and bad news ahead of Sheffield United

Eddie Howe has been speaking to the press this morning, sharing the latest on the injury front ahead of tomorrow’s meeting with Sheffield United at St James’ Park.

The good news is that Tino Livramento will train today and could be fit to return after he was an unused substitute on Wednesday night. Howe has revealed that he felt his ankle after coming on in our 4-0 win over Spurs two weeks ago.

Callum Wilson is “feeling fine” and came through his cameo at Palace with no issues, but Kieran Trippier remains out with a calf problem that’s taking longer to heal than first anticipated.

Miguel Almiron is hoping to be back for next weekend’s trip to Burnley, Nick Pope is training again and getting closer, while Joelinton saw a specialist last week and received positive news regarding his comeback. The Sheffield United game will come too soon for all three, however.

Another player has also been ruled out for the season in Matt Targett, who joins Joe Willock and Lewis Miley on the sidelines due to an ongoing heel issue.

Howe on Livramento – “Tino came on against Tottenham and had a slight reaction in his ankle after that game. It was minimal. It is the same story with a few of the players, we are having to look after him and hopefully those few days rest will make a big difference. Let’s see how he feels today before making a decision on him tomorrow.”

Howe on Wilson“He came through fine which was a big positive. He looked good, had some dangerous moments. I haven’t seen him this morning but he was feeling fine yesterday.”
