Bruno Guimaraes has revealed how he, his family and Joelinton were blown away by the Gallowgate End tribute to the Brazilian duo, calling it an ‘indescribable feeling’ and emotional moment.
Wor Flags’ stunning display said – “From Aliança and Rio to Newcastle upon Tyne, a home away from home. Joelinton and Bruno, our Brazilian Geordies” – and clearly left Bruno blown away.
After the game, he told NUFC TV, “I was speaking to Joe in the changing rooms and we wanted to cry. It was very special for me and my family” before posting the following message to fans on Twitter:
‘An indescribable feeling I was able to experience this afternoon. Gratitude, love, respect, and partnership. My greatest victory is being a Geordie on the field. Representing you, the fans, on the field is what keeps me focused and always striving for my best. Happy for the affection you’ve always shown me and for being able to represent my country in Newcastle. Onwards to more.’
Bruno kissed the badge after scoring to make it 2-1 and isn’t the only star man who seems to be at home on Tyneside, with Alexander Isak revealing once again that he’s “very happy” and determined to secure a European finish.
Speaking to Premier League productions after the match, the Swede said: “I am very happy. It was important for us to stay in the race for Europe.
“We got off to quite a bad start and needed one goal against us to wake up. The reaction was very good after the manager gave us a wake-up call at half-time.
“Many of my penalties have been here at home. I tried to stay calm and focus on the moment. I was thinking I want a hat-trick. I haven’t had one [yet]. But Europe is still alive. We have to focus on ourselves and we will see how it goes.”
