Joao Felix is facing an uncertain summer ahead, with his current loan deal at Barcelona expiring at the end of the season.
Felix has often faced criticism this season for not being consistent enough. Not to mention, the player does not receive proper support from Xavi Hernandez, which has led to suggestions that he may not be retained in the coming summer.
Barcelona do not rule out Felix stay
However, according to Diario SPORT, it appears Barcelona have not entirely ruled out the continuity of Felix.
Even if Barcelona want to keep hold of Felix, however, the club face a significant hurdle in their bid to prolong the attacker’s stay at Camp Nou.
The report adds that everything may depend on Barcelona’s Financial Fair Play margin, with the club currently facing a sticky situation in regard to their finances.
This, in turn, has led to anxiety in the Atletico Madrid camp, knowing coach Diego Simeone would not like to have the Portuguese international back at his disposal.

Other options for Barcelona
Barcelona, for their part, are open to other alternatives in the market. The club are chasing several attackers this summer, including Dani Olmo and Bernardo Silva.
If the Catalans fail to sign either, the retention of Felix could be considered. Similarly, Felix won’t continue if Barcelona fail to sign either.
In any case, Barça are not in a position to meet Atletico Madrid’s hefty €60 million demand for Felix.
The only avenue, therefore, could be another loan deal.
In that case, agent Jorge Mendes is expected to sit down with the representatives of both teams, trying to conjure up another loan deal that could see Felix stay at Camp Nou until the end of the 2024/25 campaign.
