According to Craig Hope at The Mail, Michael Olise’s release clause at Crystal Palace is below the £60m figure reported in the media.
After revealing that Toon scouts have been watching the right-winger closely this season, he reports that this is one to keep a ‘very close’ eye on for Newcastle fans as we prepare to compete for his signature this summer.
Olise is ‘admired by many’ at St James’ Park and is thought to be aware of our interest heading into the transfer window, with a move away from Selhurst Park on the cards.
As for his potential price tag, it’s Hope’s understanding that an escape clause exists below the £60m figure that’s been widely reported on, meaning an attractive deal could be on offer for the exciting France U21 star.
The 22-year-old has delivered 10 goals and five assists in just 18 Premier League appearances this season and would be an outstanding signing for Eddie Howe. The silky winger has bags of ability, glides with the ball and has a wand of a left foot.
He really would be the perfect addition to our attack, but there’ll be plenty of competition, making qualification for Europe all the more important heading into our final two games of the season.
