According to The Athletic, MLS expansion club San Diego FC are in advanced talks to sign Spanish veteran defender Sergio Ramos on a free transfer when his contract with Sevilla expires at the end of the season.
Apparently, the 38-year-old centre-back is not expected to renew his commitment to Sevilla. However, though the negotiations are in an advanced stage, no agreement with San Diego has been reached as of yet, and there are other offers from other leagues around the world on Ramos’ table at this point.
With five La Liga titles and four Champions League trophies from his days at Real Madrid, as well as two Ligue 1 titles with Paris Saint-Germain, Ramos is one of the most successful defenders in the history of the game. He also has 180 caps as a Spain international and was a part of the squad which won the 2010 World Cup, as well the squads that won the European Championships in 2008 and 2012.
