According to reports in Spain, Newcastle United are one of three Premier League clubs showing interest in Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri.
This comes from Spanish outlet Fichajes, who are reporting that Newcastle, West Ham and Aston Villa ‘have their eyes’ on the Moroccan international ahead of the summer transfer window.
En-Nesyri has scored 19 goals in 38 games in all competitions this season and impressed in the last World Cup, scoring three times on Morocco’s route to the semi-finals.
The report claims that he is being looked at to provide Alexander Isak with additional competition, with Callum Wilson’s future currently up in the air now the injury-prone 32-year-old is approaching the final 12 months of his contract.
As things stand, Fichajes believe West Ham are ‘leading the race’ for his signature, as Julen Lopetegui – the Spanish coach lined up to replace David Moyes – has identified him as a top target after working with En-Nesyri during his time in Seville.
Time will tell if we really are keen on the 6ft 2′ forward, but it could make sense given Sevilla’s financial situation, the player’s impressive form and our need for another striker; whether Wilson stays or not.
