Speaking to the press this morning, Eddie Howe was asked about strong links to Tosin Adarabioyo and Lloyd Kelly, also discussing what looks set to be a big summer transfer window on Tyneside.
The Athletic’s Chris Waugh quizzed Howe on reports surrounding Adarabioyo and Kelly, asking if the club are ‘close’ to securing any early deals. The boss’ response was a simple “no.”
However, he did open up a little more when asked about our summer plans. He revealed that we’re now “finalising plans” and admits “there’s a lot that could happen” over the coming months, despite ongoing uncertainty over the market we’ll be dealing with and the prices on offer.
“We’ve been finalising plans. There’s a lot of uncertainty over transfers in general, with prices and how much activity there will be,” he said. “For us, there’s a lot that could happen but it’s one of those things we’ll have to see how it unfolds.”
With some out of contract this summer, others nearing the final 12 months of their deal, a few centre-backs needed along with a top right winger, another striker and potentially a goalkeeper to replace the squad men likely to leave, it promises to be a busy summer.
