As revealed by North-East reporter Craig Hope, Newcastle United are keeping a close eye on Bundesliga strikers Serhou Guirassy and Benjamin Sesko ahead of the summer transfer window.
Speaking on his Youtube channel, Hope believe it’s now highly likely that Callum Wilson leaves the club this summer now he’s 32 and approaching the final 12 months of his contract, leaving the club in need of another striker to compete with Alexander Isak.
Discussing two ones to watch, he reveals that Guirassy has been watched by Newcastle scouts this season and has a tempting ‘£15-20m’ release clause in his current deal, which could appeal after a stunning 28 goals in 29 games this season.
As for Sesko, Hope confirms we’ve held long-term interest in the Slovenian and held informal discussions to bring him to St James’ Park last summer. The 20-year-old has a £55m release clause in his deal and has scored 17 goals this term.
Then to Tosin Adarabioyo, it’s Hope’s information that a formal offer was made to him last weekend and that he player is “excited” by the project at St James’ Park.
He also reveals that Newcastle chiefs are ‘untroubled’ by reports that Man Utd are making a late move to hijack a deal for the centre-back, feeling we ‘absolutely’ remain frontrunners to sign the 26-year-old keen to work with Eddie Howe.
It’s thought Man Utd are yet to make any offer for Tosin, while the uncertainty at Old Trafford around Erik ten Hag’s future and their transfer plans means it’s ‘likely’ he ends up on Tyneside.
