Six players on Newcastle’s radar and five who could leave this summer – Mark Douglas

In his latest piece for the i, Mark Douglas has revealed six players on Newcastle’s radar heading into the summer transfer window and five who could depart.

He reports that we held “very positive” talks with Tosin Adarabioyo’s representatives last weekend. It’s ‘not quite done yet’, but it’s believed everyone on Newcastle’s recruitment team was in agreement over a free agent move for the centre-back.

Douglas then confirms that Newcastle scouts have been watching Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, with Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise and Wolves’ Pedro Neto both shortlisted as we plan to sign a right winger who can offer ‘versatility, potential and pace.’ Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey is also liked.

RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko is a ‘long-term’ target who ‘ticks every box’ for the club and could be attainable if we manage to raise additional funds through player sales.

Then to outgoings, Douglas reports that Martin Dubravka has received interest from Saudi Arabia and Germany, Miguel Almiron is expected to move on, Sean Longstaff could leave for ‘pure profit’ – despite Eddie Howe preferring to keep him – and Callum Wilson has Premier League and Saudi admirers, with his contract up in 12 months time adding to the uncertainty around his future.

Last but not least, Yankuba Minteh is more likely to leave again on loan, but there remains a chance he could be sold if a big offer arrives that helps us work within PSR, says the North-East reporter.
