Palermo’s dream of returning to Serie A next season remained alive following Kristoffer Lund’s top performance against Sampdoria.
Lund assisted once in Palermo’s 2-0 playoff win over Sampdoria, earning him SBI Americans Abroad Player of the Week honors. The U.S. men’s national team left back logged 90 minutes to help Palermo set up a two-legged showdown with Venezia over the upcoming week.
Lund, 22, has been an impactful signing for the club this season, totaling 36 combined appearances, two goals, and three assists. His strong 90 minutes against Sampdoria featured two duels won, three clearances, one interception, and nine clearances.
Palermo split the season series with Venezia this season and will host the first leg at the Stadia Renzo Barbera before traveling to Venice on Friday.

Brenden Aaronson
Union Berlin avoided Bundesliga relegation on Saturday thanks to a strong performance from Brenden Aaronson.
Aaronson registered one assist and logged an impactful 80 minutes as Union Berlin defeated Freiburg 2-1 on home soil. The American attacker set up Union’s opening goal of the match before watching the final 10+ minutes from the bench.
Aaronson’s loan spell will officially conclude at month’s end, opening the door to a move elsewhere this summer.
Tim Ream
Fulham concluded its English Premier League season on Sunday with Tim Ream excelling in his first club start since February.
Ream played 90 minutes as Marco Silva’s Cottagers defeated Luton Town 4-2 at Kenilworth Road. The 36-year-old won six duels and made four clearances as Fulham ended the season on a winning note.
Ream remains under contract at Fulham for next season, which could very well be his last in London.
