Ipswich Town defender Leif Davis has admitted that it is his ultimate goal to play for Newcastle after a historic season for the 24-year-old as he helped his side clinch promotion to the Premier League.
Davis – who started his career at Wallsend Boys Club – recorded 18 assists across the entire campaign, absolutely obliterating Kieran Trippier’s record of the most assists by a defender in the Championship which was 14.
Now, in a recent interview with Football Daily, the Geordie defender admitted that it would be a dream to play for his boyhood club at St James’ Park, and it’s definitely not outside of the realms of possibility.
Of course, Newcastle currently have high expectations for Lewis Hall in the left-back position, but they could use another attaching outlet down that flank.
In the interview, Davis revealed how he’d still been keeping a close eye on results in the North East and that he’s ‘definitely’ determined to fulfil his ambitions of wearing a black and white shirt in the future.
“St James’ Park is incredible. My biggest ambition is to play for Newcastle – definitely.” 👀
