Bryan Mbeumo has issued a statement suggesting he could be on the lookout for a move this summer amid serious interest from Newcastle emerging in the last few days.
The attacker enjoyed a successful season on a personal level with Brentford, recording nine goals and six assists in 25 league games, attracting interest from some big clubs.
Both Newcastle and Liverpool are keeping a close eye on the 24-year-old who has admitted that he wants to play in the biggest competitions at the biggest clubs.
Of course, that works slightly against Newcastle at the minute given the lack of European football, but the long-term goals are to be playing regularly in those competitions, and Mbeumo could certainly help them get there.
After five years at the London-based club, the Cameroon international is ‘enticed’ by the rumours surrounding him and is certainly hoping to ‘take a step forward’ this summer.
Here’s what Mbeumo said:
“I’ve spent five seasons at Brentford, at a club that knew how to help me grow and take a step forward. But yes, I want to play in the biggest competitions, in the best clubs. It’s still enticing to see some big teams interested in me. We’ll see.”
