Sky Germany have once again reported on Newcastle United’s interest in Assan Ouedraogo, revealing that we are one of several Premier League clubs keen to sign the highly-rated 18-year-old.
Bayern Munich have been heavily linked with the Schalke midfielder in recent weeks, but it’s believed the Bundesliga giants have pulled out of the race.
Sky report that Newcastle have enquired about the German youth international, who is thought to be available for a fee in the region of €14m (£12m). However, he’s also receiving interest from Man Utd, Liverpool, Aston Villa, RB Leipzig and Frankfurt.
Speaking to Sky Germany, his father has confirmed that the player has serious interest from England and a host of ‘written offers’, also revealing that Bayern have pulled out of the race:
“Unfortunately, there are many false reports about Assan in circulation. The fact is: There was never a commitment from Assan and us to FC Bayern , although we had had a well-paid contract from FC Bayern ready for signature for months. The idea and perspective were more important to us than Bayern’s financial possibilities.
“We knew Bayern’s current situation and of course followed it closely. Bayern have now informed us openly and honestly that they do not want to afford a transfer of Assan this summer for various reasons.
“We have a valid contract with Schalke and won’t make any hasty decisions. The next step is incredibly important for his personal and footballing development,”, he said.
“The financial aspect isn’t crucial, but primarily the idea and trust of the future coach and those responsible. We continue to work together with Schalke to find a great solution for the club and for Assan. I can assure you of that.
