According to widespread reports this morning, Newcastle United have now reached a full agreement over the signing of Lloyd Kelly.
As revealed by The Athletic’s David Ornstein, The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards, Sky Sports and Fabrizio Romano, the versatile defender will undergo a medical and sign a five-year contract over the ‘coming days’, with the deal on offer set to include an option of to extend until 2030.
It’s been reported that Liverpool, Spurs. Atletico Madrid and Roma have all been showing interest in the 25-year-old, but Ornstein reports that he is eager to be reunited with Eddie Howe and will sign this week.
Howe brought him to Bournemouth from Bristol City back in 2019 and values his ability to play at centre-back or left-back, with Kelly also a leader who has captained the Cherries on several occasions.
A solid start to the transfer window for Newcastle, who are also hoping to tie up an early deal for Burnley stopper James Trafford following talks and an opening bid over the weekend.
