England ‘struggling’ and have ‘got to get better’ – Kane

Harry Kane described England as “struggling” but said he was satisfied with his side’s results after the 2020 finalists followed up a 1-0 win over Serbia with a lethargic 1-1 draw against Denmark at Uefa Euro 2024.

Captain Kane’s 18th-minute strike was one of the few highlights of England’s second game at the finals, conceding an equaliser 16 minutes later through Morten Hjulmand’s long-range strike past a backtracking defence.

“The pressure in both games hasn’t been right and with the ball it hasn’t been good enough,” Kane told BBC Sport. “We’ve got levels that we can breach. We can be better with and without the ball, no questions.

“We’re struggling with and without the ball. Everyone’s dropping below their levels a little bit. It was tough out there but we’re calm. It wasn’t our greatest game but we got away with a point.”

“Advantage England!”

“We’re starting games well but when the teams are dropping deeper, we’re not quite sure how to get the pressure on and who’s going,” said the 30-year-old.

“In the second half, we tried to change a little bit but it was difficult. Credit to Denmark, they caused us some threats. We’ve got to look back and see where we can improve.”

“The sign of a good team is when you’re not playing at your best and still find a way to get results like we have…
