Spain cruised into the last 16 at Euro 2024 as group winners having registered wins against Croatia and Italy with their performances marking them out as potential title challengers.
Next up is a game against Albania in Dusseldorf that has little riding on it for Spain but plenty for the Albanians. Sylvinho’s side have one point from their two games so far and need a win to stand any chance of advancing from Group B.
Spain boss Luis de la Fuente may make changes and opt to rest some of his key players but Albania will be at full strength, bar forward Mirlind Daku, who has been suspended for two games for leading his team’s fans in offensive chants about Serbia and North Macedonia following Wednesday’s draw with Croatia.
Albania forward Jasir Asani said: “We’ve played against two strong opponents in Italy and Croatia. They play high-level football, and Spain also have great talent. We’ve learned a lot as a team at Euro 2024, because these are games that can improve us as players.”
