After a two-day break from Euro 2024 action, international football is back this weekend and there’s plenty of Newcastle United stars in action.
However, before we see the Euros return for the start of the knockout stages at 5pm on Saturday, we’ll see Bruno Guimaraes and Miguel Almiron face off in this summer’s Copa America.
The game kicks off at 2am (UK time) in the early hours of Saturday morning, with Brazil taking on Paraguay at the 61,000-seater Allegiant Stadium.
Bruno played the full 90 in Brazil’s opening game of Copa America earlier this week – a 0-0 draw with Costa Rica – while Miggy was taken off before the hour mark in Paraguay’s 2-1 defeat to Colombia.
It’s a huge game given both failed to win their opening game. A defeat for Paraguay and they’ll be out, but the pressure is also on Brazil; who have the dangerous Colombia to come in their final group game next week.
Elsewhere, we’ll see more Mags meet on Sunday as England face Slovakia in the last 16 of the Euros, where Anthony Gordon and Kieran Trippier take on Martin Dubravka for a place in the quarter-finals.
Whoever comes through victorious (hopefully England!) will then take on the winners of Switzerland vs Italy (5pm Saturday), meaning Fabian Schar would then face a fellow Mag in the quarter-final should the Swiss progress.
For anyone interested, Brazil vs Paraguay is live on Premier Sports 1 at 2am in the early hours of Saturday morning, while England’s clash with Slovakia is a 5pm kick-off on ITV this Sunday.
