Sky Sports: Newcastle eyeing second deal after Yankuba Minteh ahead of PSR deadline

Newcastle United have finally agreed to sell Yankuba Minteh, who is set to join Brighton for £33m tomorrow, but it seems the club are looking to secure more outgoing business tomorrow.

Sky Sports’ Keith Downie reveals that the £33m fee is ‘unlikely to be enough’ to completely satisfy the Premier League’s PSR rules, meaning another busy day is on the cards tomorrow.

Speaking on X (Twitter), the North-East reporter said: ‘Newcastle could yet be active in the transfer window tomorrow, despite agreeing a fee with Brighton for Yankuba Minteh.  Understand is the £33m received for the Gambian international is unlikely to be enough to satisfy the Premier League’s PSR rules, and avoid a points deduction. It is however, a huge help for Newcastle.’

While it’s clearly a huge relief for the club – even if Minteh’s departure feels like a bittersweet moment – it seems we’ll be looking to move on another player to ensure we comply with PSR.

Elliot Anderson has been offered around – he’s been included in part-exchange bids for Wolves’ Max Kilman and Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga – while Callum Wilson has been linked with West Ham and a host of Saudi clubs.

Thankfully, you’d think Minteh’s sale will end any talk of us selling Anthony Gordon or Alexander Isak, however, as it seems we are very close to complying before the close of play tomorrow.
