Barcelona can earn €500,000 from former academy ace’s transfer to Saudi Arabia

With the summer transfer market officially opening, Barcelona have all hands on deck in terms of maximising their financial gains. After all, their dream of signing players like Nico Williams purely depends on their ability to generate sales.

The Catalan giants have already set the wheels in motion, with Sergino Dest, Marc Guiu, Chadi Riad, and Estanis Pedrola among the first departures, each contributing to replenishing the club’s coffers

Now, Mundo Deportivo brings to light that Barcelona could benefit directly from the sale of a former academy star in the coming days.

A decision in Seville

The player in question is Alex Collado, Barcelona’s young midfield sensation who left the club on a free transfer last summer. Notably, however, the Blaugrana do own a portion of the player’s rights.

Joan Laporta and Co. are entitled to 25% of any future transfer fee should Collado leave Real Betis at any point. Los Verdiblancos are ready to offload him this summer, especially amidst interest from Saudi Arabia.

As revealed by the Spanish outlet, Al-Okhdood are said to be interested in permanently signing the starlet. He spent last season on loan at the Saudi-based team and recorded eight goal contributions for the side, impressing the management.

The fee in question

As it stands, Real Betis hope to secure at least €2 million from Collado’s sale. In such a scenario, Barcelona stand to gain at least €500,000 and potentially more should the Seville-based side negotiate a superior fee.

Real Betis are currently awaiting Al-Okhdood to secure the green light from the Saudi Pro League.

Once the league permit the transfer and confirm that it fits within the club’s available limit, the deal can be closed.
