England are set to switch things up ahead of their Euro 2024 quarter-final against Switzerland as Gareth Southgate moves to five at the back
Expected XI:Pickford – Walker, Stones, Konsa – Trippier, Rice, Mainoo, Saka – Bellingham, Foden – Kane.
There have been calls for a number of players, like Anthony Gordon and Coke Palmer to be introduced to the starting line up to try and shake things up, but so far Southgate has refused to listen.
However, ahead of today’s 5pm kick-off game, England now look set to play five at the back with Kyle Walker, John Stones, and Ezri Konsa as the three centre halves, with Kieran Trippier and Bukayo Saka as wing-backs, with Foden and Bellingham supporting Kane in attack and Rice partnering Mainoo in midfield once again.
Despite making it into the final eight, England have struggled to click during this tournament and were extremely fortunate to score a last minute equaliser against Slovakia last weekend.
