Sky Italy: Newcastle interested in relegated Spaniard – Two Serie A clubs also keen

After revealing that we’d returned to the table for Malick Thiaw on Monday night, Sky Italy’s Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Marc Pubill is the latest young defender on Newcastle’s radar.

Pubil is a 21-year-old right-back who currently plays for Almeria, who he’s expected to leave this summer after their relegation from La Liga last season.

The 6ft 2′ talent is currently representing his Spain (U23) at the Olympics and it seems Newcastle aren’t the only club interested, with Di Marzio reporting that Serie A duo Bologna and AS Roma are also in the mix.

We released an exclusive earlier this week revealing that the club have also been tracking 20-year-old Fiorentina talent Michael Kayode, so it’s intriguing to see us linked with another young right-back.

With doubts surrounding Kieran Trippier’s future at the club and Emil Krafth out of contract at the end of the 2024/25 season, it makes sense for the club to be assessing potential competition for Tino Livramento.

Another name to add to the list of potential targets, although the arrival of a right-back is unlikely to be a top priority while we pursue a centre-back and right-winger and wait to see what happens with Trippier on his return from a break.
