Liverpool chief executive Billy Hogan believes the departure of Jurgen Klopp “provides an opportunity for a reboot”.
Klopp left Anfield after nearly eight years in charge at the end of last season with Arne Slot installed as his successor.
Liverpool also underwent a major structural change with Michael Edwards and Julian Ward returning to oversee the wider Fenway Sports Group’s football portfolio, of which Liverpool is the marquee name, as well as Richard Hughes arriving from Bournemouth to become sporting director.
And although it’s an unwanted reshuffle given they would have preferred Klopp to stay, Hogan insists there are positives to be drawn.
He told the BBC: “It provides an opportunity for a reboot or reset and maybe to look at how things operate going forward.
“Jurgen departing was a seismic decision but clearly the right decision for him and his family, so by extension the right decision for the club.
“He was very clear about leaving the club in a better place than where he found it and I think he has done that. The timing of his announcement gave us an opportunity to go through a proper process.”

The Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules continue to be a challenge for many clubs – Everton and Nottingham Forest were deducted points last season while the likes of Newcastle United have had to make unwanted sales this summer to avoid sanctions.
Hogan says it’s important rules have “teeth” but also backed proposed changes to the current regulations, adding: “I think it is important that the rules have teeth and if clubs fall foul of that then the Premier League has a process to go through. We are supportive of those rules and being sustainable.
