As revealed by The Telegraph, Newcastle United have now agreed a fee to sign Sheffield United forward William Osula.
Luke Edwards reveals that Paul Mitchell has been pushing to sign the Denmark U21 international and looks set to make the 20-year-old his first signing since becoming the club’s sporting director.
The report states that we’ll pay an initial £10m for the versatile striker – who can also play out wide – with ‘up to £5m’ more coming from add-ons.
It’s believed Newcastle feel he has huge potential and Blades boss’ felt the same, with the Championship club ‘desperate’ to keep a hold of the forward before a deal was eventually agreed.
Mitchell feels Osula will thrive under the coaching of Eddie Howe and is convinced he has what it takes to eventually become a first-choice striker at Premier League level.
The Telegraph report that Toon chiefs are looking for value for money deals and are also eager to reduce the average age of the squad. It’s thought departures are also being worked on before we commit to a big-money buy, with the arrival of a right-sided centre-back an right-winger still on the agenda.
