Eddie Howe has been speaking to the media about our push for new recruits following a 2-0 defeat to Yokohama F. Marinos today.
Asked directly about recent links to Sheffield United forward William Osula and Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi, Howe refused comment on individual deals but insisted our efforts to bring in signings are “ongoing.”
“Our efforts in the transfer market are ongoing,” Howe said. “I’m out of touch with all of those movements but I know we are trying. Hopefully we can bring you news soon. I’m not going to talk individually on deals.”
A £10m fee has been agreed for Osula, but it’s believed personal terms are still being finalised before he completes his medical. As for Guehi, talks have taken place with Crystal Palace, who are expected to demand north of £60m for the England international after his superb displays at Euro 2024.
On the game itself in Tokyo, Howe admitted he was “disappointed” with the defeat and saw several “things to work on”, adding that the hot and humid conditions have made it “difficult” for the players.
