Caleb Wiley’s first taste of European action will come in France’s top flight.
Wiley has joined Ligue 1 side Strasbourg in a season-long loan deal from English Premier League side Chelsea. The former Atlanta United homegrown made the move to Chelsea earlier this summer in a permanent transfer.
Strasbourg has a major ownership stake from company BlueCo, who is co-owned by Chelsea owner Todd Boehly. Wiley’s Chelsea teammate Andrey Santos has also joined Strasbourg on loan for the upcoming campaign.
A 5-feet-10 defender, Wiley debuted for Atlanta United in 2022 and totaled 80 MLS appearances, six goals, and eight assists over that span. He started in all 21 of his league appearances in 2024.
He did feature for the U.S. men’s Olympic team during the recent Summer Games in Paris, France.
Strasbourg finished 13th in Ligue 1 and opens its season on Sunday at Montpellier.
