As reported yesterday, Barcelona sporting director Deco held a meeting with the agent of La Masia breakout star Fermin Lopez to discuss a contract renewal for the midfielder.
Fermin had signed a new contract with Barcelona just a year ago, committing himself to the club until 2027.
However, following an exceptional breakthrough campaign, during which he scored 11 goals for the first team, Barça are eager to reward him with improved terms whilst also securing his long-term future amid interest from other clubs.

Now, Mundo Deportivo’s Fernando Polo has come forward with more details about the contract negotiations that are taking place between Barcelona and Fermin Lopez.
As mentioned earlier, the 21-year-old is currently signed with the club for three more years until 2027 and the Catalans want to add two more years to the deal and extend it until 2029.
Barça also want to improve Fermin’s salary, after the academy graduate’s great season, which saw him win the European Championship and the gold medal at the Olympic Games with Spain after netting 11 goals for the club.

The meeting between the youngster’s agent, Xavier Giménez, and Deco was very positive. The club conveyed their desire to improve the youth player’s salary and offer him better performance bonuses.
In addition, Barcelona also want to increase Fermin’s €400 million release clause – something that the player’s side does not see as relevant due to the enormous amount of the current clause.

The report states that the renewal agreement is not expected to be finalised this month but in September, but the harmony between the two parties is very good and even more so after the last meeting.
