Barcelona set to sign winger for €12m – player has already emptied locker at current club

In a major development, Italian publication Tuttosport reports that Federico Chiesa is on the verge of signing for FC Barcelona this summer.

The Catalan giants had set their focus on the 26-year-old Italian international after deals for Nico Williams and Luis Diaz fell through.

Chiesa had fallen out of favour at Juventus and was always said to be open to joining Barcelona, with the move on the cusp of completion.

€12 million deal, three-year contract

According to the report, Barcelona will pay Juventus a transfer fee of €12 million for the signing of Chiesa.

In addition, the Catalans have agreed a three-year contract with the Italian international with an option for an additional year.

The winger will be on wages of €4 million per year fixed with an additional €2 million in easily achievable bonuses.

Chiesa already on his way

The report further adds that Chiesa has already cleared his locker at Juventus and has said his goodbyes.

Even though there was interest from Inter Milan, AC Milan, and Napoli in Serie A and some clubs from the Premier League, the Italian international is headed to the Catalan capital.

In fact, the report states that Chiesa is expected to arrive in Barcelona either on Wednesday or Thursday to finalise everything.

It is now up to the Catalan giants to clear up room on their wage bill and ensure the winger’s registration.

Considering the obstacles they have encountered in registering Dani Olmo thus far, Barcelona will hope things resolve in the coming days either with the Nike deal being completed or the club finding new investors for the Barça Vision operation.
